Who We Are

New Jersey Web Festival is an international film festival for all forms of web-based content as well as one of FilmFreeway’s top-rated festivals in the world. We feature fiction podcasts, web series, actual play content, music videos, trailers, pilots, short films, and more. We hold the distinct honor of being the first film festival experience for fiction podcasts on the international WebFest stage.

Our festival is for creators, by creators. Each member of our team comes from the web-based creation world. This hands-on knowledge and deep personal tie to the community allows us to throw a festival that is entirely creator-focused. For four days we offer workshops, panels, networking opportunities, and screenings for creators who come from all over the world to Montclair, New Jersey.

The motto of our festival is “Feel the Magic” and that encapsulates the experience we offer to our attendees. But don’t take our word for it, we have nearly 100 five-star reviews on FIlmFreeway. Here are real testimonials from our 2022 attendees:

Removing Barriers to Entry

Film Festivals are an established part of the film industry. A space for networking, learning, and showcasing a creator’s work while also having an adjudicated awards process. As with all things, the number one barrier to entry for a filmmaker is financial. On top of the cost of making a creative project, the film festival circuit is a major part of the promotional rollout for film projects. The cost of submitting to festivals along with attending them becomes a major burden and hurdle on filmmakers.

Additionally, while awards and conventions have existed in the audio fiction space for many years, the film festival model has never been applied to this space. At the NJWF we believe strongly that finances should not be the difference maker in consideration at our festival. That’s why we charge a single submission fee which makes a project eligible for consideration in all awards in their medium’s categories.

The fact is, however, that while we keep our financial commitment lower than many other festivals, that fee is still an insurmountable barrier for many creators. As fierce defenders of independent creators, we at the NJ WebFest are committed to finding new ways to break down those barriers for the web content community — especially global majority, historically marginalized, and underrepresented creators.

Goal of Sponsorship

On top of helping fund festival operations including location rental, event planning, guest and keynote payments, event planning, food for attendees, and more; 15% of this sponsorship will be earmarked to a pot of money that is first-come, first-serve for any creator who can’t afford to submit to the festival but would like their show to be considered anyways. We will directly fund the submission of those creators out of this festival until the pot runs out. We will continue adding new sponsors at this level to keep the pot as full as possible throughout the submission cycle of our festival.
